 Finally Seeing The Light!

posted by admin on March 30, 2009 19:07 as Feelings

Finally see improvement everyday  and my Lexie is back. The greatest achievement of this month is Lex went to Disneyland with SOMBFAB(some of my best friends are bald) support group. She was in a group with her favorite nurses Michelle & Marisa ! And with her fellow warriors Tate & Briahnna. She enjoyed getting to know  Garrett, Stephan , Fedel and having Mckenzie (Tate sister) with them. It was a long adventure but a great way to celebrate her 1 year since diagnosis anniversary. She had to use a wheelchair and those with healthy legs were so helpful to push her. She has also successfully completed drivers training and will soon get her permit.
Vince has started back to chemo today and please  say extra prayers for him. Also Osteo has touched another child in San Diego, Matt 14yo, so please add him to any prayer list. Connor is still holding on , so ...

 Praise The Lord!!!!!!!!

The final pathology report from surgery is No Cancer. We are so excited and happy! It has been such a long year, we forget what happiness feels like. Today Dom, Lex & I heard the great news from Dr B. Her staples were removed and smiles are big as can be. It is the best feeling in the world and we finally feel like we are on the road to healing her soul instead of constantly  trying to save the leg.. She is walking and ready to start physical therapy. Thank you all foremost for the prayers, they have been answered. And for all the gifts, flowers, texts & calls. Please continue to keep in your prayers Vince who is waiting to find his new chemotherapy course and that Dr Pete Anderson in Houston will guide his care. Also Connor (6yo) who is fighting his final battle, may he soon ...

 Finally Home

posted by on March 03, 2009 21:02 as Feelings

Finally made it home. It has been a rough week trying to control her pain, she just keeps asking when will this end. I wake her every 4hrs to give her pain meds and still in the day she will have times of incredible pain. So please pray for minimal pain that she must endure. Today Vince had his lung surgery & only one nodule was found. So extra prayers for controlled pain for him as well. And for Connor who is fighting his final battle. On a happier note Emily & Briahanna are finishing their final chemo's this week. It has been exhausting, but we just keep the faith & fight..And never forget our hospital family who fights along our side.

 Getting ready for surgery

posted by on February 18, 2009 20:32 as General

Hey everyone it's Yaya! Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. Tomorrow I am  going to clinic to check counts for surgery and to make sure I don't need platelets. Then Friday my Dad,Cooper and I are driving to Las Vegas to visit Doctor Milnie before Surgery. Surgery is on Monday at 8:00am, I'm really nervous but I can't wait to get it over with. I will probably be in the hospital for over a week. But I get a epidural again for five days so that will be nice. Thank you again for all the support and love. Keep me in your prayers.Lots of extra prayers for my friend Vince & his family. The osteo beast is trying to raise it's ugly head again, so I pray his surgery is clear.

 Bone Scan & The Week

posted by on February 14, 2009 15:15 as Doctors Report

Bone scan results are good for the body except the Rt. femur. But we know that, still until Dr B gets in there we won't know what is destroying the bone. A  week with no screaming pain and Lex's mind was at peace. Shirley & Doug Allen donated a motorized wheelchair to her(it was Shirley's deceased Dad RIP) and has given Yaya incredible freedom. Ted & TJ built ramps so I could get it in the truck and a new found independence has been born for Yaya. She was able to go to the store with me & has been voluntering in her Aunt Dena's first grade class. She lets the kids read to her & at times reads to the class as a whole  & they all made her special valentines.  I have no clue how the days pass but they do. It is heading into 7days until surgery, ...

It feels like we won the lottery with the scan news, that is how much stress we all feel before the scan and waiting for results. But it is NED ( NO Evidence of Disease), and one we want to live in our household forever. Now we can breath and are heading for a walk in the wheelchair & w/ Kida (dog).. Her smile is priceless now, she had been laying on the couch  looking like she was going to nap. Thank you Lord!, thank you for all your prayers. Please keep Alexis'friend Abigail in your prayers, she is struggling with pain after her leg revision in TX... Love to all: HAPPY Mom

 So Many Questions!

posted by on February 03, 2009 23:51 as Doctors Report

A day with Dr. B and still no answers. We are too keep the leg from breaking and keep her comfortable. No answers on what is going on,  we will have to wait until he gets in there. She is worried she will loose the leg, as parents we can't give her that peace, we just don't know yet. Tomorrow she has her 1st PET/CT scan, she is frustrated with constant days of medical appts. It is beyond words these feelings we have. It is sad to say, but this has been pure hell these last two months since chemo ended.
Today we met Mark Sweeney for lunch @ Trophy's, it is always a time filled with baseball talk & laughter, that was todays blessing. Also today Joey in Florida had his limbsalvage surgery, he did great and we ask for extra prayers to get his family through the next two ...

Surgery is set for Feb. 23rd @ 8am. Now we start the final countdown. Dr B, X-rays on the 3rd & multiple scans on the 9th to check for cancer. It is always a stresser to get through all of this. Maris has the flu this weekend, but we have so far knock on wood, kept it from Alexis & Tessa.   Our friend & Osteo Warrior Tate is @ the Super Bowl having his Make A Wish & the family will then enjoy Disney World. We pray they have the time of there lifes, they deserve it. They were two months ahead of us in this nightmare, and showed us the way. They came to visit Lex last weekend to help cheer her up. Also Alexis' new friend Abigail (Texas) is having revision surgery of her leg tomorrow, please keep her in your prayers.Caroline has just reached day 200 after bone marrow ...

 Peace

posted by on January 31, 2009 3:56 as Feelings

It was a whirlwind week of emotions. Yesterday Lex got a package, a Vermont Teddy Bear from her Aunt & Cousin's the Carey's in Revere Mass. She held it close & collected her thoughts on what she was going to say @ D'mario's funeral. She was able to crutch up to the alter with Tessa standing by her side and speak about her special friend. I was so proud of her! It was a beautiful service and by the end the tears were replaced with smiles & a calming peace. This week took it toll and she will rest this weekend. She did have a week without any screaming pain moments so that is a blessing. We see the Dr on the 3rd, we pray for some answers. Love to all: Exhausted Mom
